2024 TA2 Champion to be crowned at One Raceway
The TFH Hire Muscle Car Series - framed by HYTEK Steel Framing has come down to the wire with four drivers technically still in the points for the 2024 championship heading into the final round at the reborn One Raceway this weekend, October 25-27.
Herzog Steel Ford Mustang driver Josh Haynes holds a 82 point lead over driver Graham Cheney in the #51 PHD Motorsport Chevrolet Camaro. Hi-Tec Oils Mustang driver Brad Gartner, who is also in title contention for the 2024 championship sits 25 points behind Graham Cheney in third, with 240 points up for grabs across the weekend.
Due to the event clashing with the GC 500, championship contender Graham Cheney and team mate Paul Hadley will not be on track as Cheney is supporting his sixteen year old son Tyler, who is racing in the Toyota GR Cup, while the TFH Hire team of Josh Thomas and Des Collier will also be racing Aussie Race Cars on the Gold Coast.
Sydney’s Zach Loscalpio will be returning in the #21 Tempest Solutions Chevrolet Camaro for the first time this season whilst new TA2 Queensland based rookie Mark Spencer will debut a brand-new Dodge Challenger.
Sam Bates, son of reigning Circo Master Class Champion Nicholas Bates will be stepping in the Mustang for the final round, following a strong run in the enduro driver event at The Bend until damage in Race 3 took them out.
Mark Crutcher is looking to take home the Circo Master class championship this weekend sitting with a comfortable 97-point margin ahead of PHD Motorsport driver Paul Hadley in second, and still an outside chance for the overall title if Haynes and Gartner have major issues.
Danny Reidy in the #5 Desert Palms Alice Springs Chevrolet Camaro is looking to take home the Racetech Australia Rookie of the Year award, with a healthy 139 point lead to Domain Ramsay in the #71 C&H Trucking Chevrolet Camaro.
Hayden Jackson, Michael Coulter, Aaron Prosser and Hi-Tec Oils Robbie Farr will round out the field for the grand finale of the 2024 TA2 Muscle Cars, the speedway legend having just his second run on the bitumen.
The TFH Hire Muscle Car Series framed by HYTEK Steel Framing will have 4 races across the weekend at One Raceway. Friday will feature three practice sessions, with Qualifying, a Top 8 Shootout and Race 1 all held on Saturday and three races on Sunday.
Catch all of Saturday and Sunday’s action live streamed on the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series Facebook and YouTube pages from 10:00AM As well as live and free to air from 1:00PM on SBS, simulcast on Fox Sports and Kayo Sports.
QUOTES
Josh Haynes, #37 Herzog Steel Ford Mustang
“I am really excited to be returning back to One Raceway, it is my home track and I haven’t been there for three years. To finish the championship on the front foot in front of my sponsors, family and friends would be really cool. We still don’t know what way we will be running direction wise around the track and there is a few new corners that will make it very interesting for everyone. It is going to be a really exciting round, we just have to make sure we finish every race, and don’t do anything stupid because this is the most important time of the year”
“We have had a really good year with the Waltec Team, we had one DNF at Morgan Park earlier in the year which was pretty tough but at the same time it was only a minor setback in our pretty consistent year. We have has some really good results and pole positions including one at my home track in Sydney. It has been really good to promote the sponsors and category with how quickly everything has been growing and I am looking forward to some more good results this weekend at One Raceway.”
Brad Gartner, #22 Hi-Tec Oils Chevrolet Camaro
"I am approaching the weekend with nothing to loose, the mentality has been I can't win it off anything unless something goes wrong for Josh Haynes, but I don't wish that on him, he has had an amazing year and deserves to win it. My mindset is to go into this weekend and win as many races as we can, with nothing to loose."
"Joining the Hi-Tec Oils team at the beginning of the year has been really good for me. Obviously the season got of to a very rough start for myself with a couple DNF's and then we caught our way back up at Morgan Park and I think with myself Tim Brook, and Adam within the team we have managed to build something within the Hi-Tec Oils Racing team. Adding Robbie Farr to the team at Winton has really upped the teams portfolio and has really grown the whole atmosphere of Hi-Tec Oils Racing."
"I can't wait to head to One Raceway this weekend, hopefully have a great finish to the end of the year and build for a big one next season."
