Aaron Seton has scored his tenth win of the 2019 TA2 Muscle Car Series after two convincing wins in the opening two races of the penultimate round of the season at Sydney Motorsport Park.
The Castrol Harris Racing Mustang driver started off the day with a new track record, setting a blistering 1:33.0174 on his only flying lap to score his fourth PWR Pole Award of the season ahead of George Miedecke, Nathan Herne and reigning champion Ashley Jarvis.
Seton set a new race lap record at a 1:34.5756 on his way to a lights-to-flag win in Race 1, before he backed up with an unchallenged victory to score his tenth win of the season in Race 2.
Race 1 ended under safety car conditions after Mark Crutcher suffered from a coolant issue on Lap 7 in the Crutcher Developments Challenger, but the McAlister Motors team worked hard and repaired the car in time to get out for Race 2.
17-year old Herne jumped to second off the start in Race 2 in the Gulf Western Oils Challenger. He caught up to Seton by the end of the race but could not catch the leader, while George Miedecke settled for third.
It was a great day for the Kubota Racing team of Hugh McAlister and Matthew MacKelden, as Hugh made his way up from sixth to fifth in Race 1, and fought hard with Ashley Jarvis to move up to fourth in Race 2. After a race-long battle, McAlister passed Jarvis into Turn 2 on the final lap after Jarvis combatted a steering issue.
Matt MacKelden moved up past Russell Wright and Andrew Miedecke to sixth after starting Race 1 from tenth, as Kobelco Motorsport’s Michael Coulter, Wright, Miedecke and Murray Kent rounded out the top ten in Race 2.
The TA2 Muscle Car Series returns for two races on Sunday at 11:45am and 2:35pm respectively.

“It was great to take my tenth win of the season and two race wins for Castrol Harris Racing today,” said Aaron Seton.
“The car feels really comfortable at the moment, it’s balanced well and able to carry good speed throughout the race.
“The tyre pressures and settings were fairly similar for the late race this afternoon, the hardest thing was just managing the setting sun and being able to see through Turn 1 and around Corporate Hill.”
